Wednesday’s $450 Million Powerball Jackpot Draws Near, Please Play ResponsiblyAs the New Year begins and consumers have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the $450 million Powerball jackpot that will be drawn on Wednesday, January 6, the CT Lottery reminds customers to play responsibly.

The CT Lottery’s President and CEO, Anne M. Noble encourages players to: “Know your limits, and stay within them.” The jackpot, if won on Wednesday, would be the 4th largest in the game’s history. “When jackpots reach levels in the hundreds of millions of dollars,” Noble says, “remember that responsible purchasing is the way to play. Lottery games are fun and entertaining, and it is important that consumers use good judgment.”

This CT Lottery announcement is the latest in the corporation's efforts to raise awareness about responsible gambling. The Corporation recently concluded its annual holiday campaign that reminded the public that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for youth and teens. The CT Lottery is the primary funding source for the problem gambling programs and services offered by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), providing that agency with $2.3 million annually.

A 24-hour confidential problem gambling HELPLINE is available at 1-888-789-7777.

Players are also reminded to check their Powerball tickets carefully after each drawing. In addition to the jackpot, there are still many other prizes to be won ranging from $4 up to $2,000,000.
