The winner recently turned 60 and says he discovered he had matched five white balls the night before his birthday. “It was hard to keep a straight face when I scanned the ticket at the store,” said the winner. “It was pure luck.” That winning ticket was purchased via quick pick the day of the August 30th drawing as the player dreamed of winning what was, at the time, a $1.1 billion dollar jackpot. The ticket was purchased at the Pride Convenience Mart on Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury. The winner says he has no immediate plans on how he’ll spend the money but says he’s a regular lottery player and will continue to play. “Winning is a myth to those who don’t play.”
Lucky Vibes Credited For $50,000 Powerball Win
A Waterbury man credits his positive thinking after discovering he had won $50,000 playing Powerball. The ticket was a quick pick and the man says he usually purchases his tickets at only one of two specific locations. “I think about winning while getting the ticket,” he said. The man plans to enjoy the win but will also put some cash into savings and explore a home renovation. The ticket was purchased at Super Wines & Liquors on West Main St. in Cheshire. The winner also says he plans to continue playing the lottery with even more positive vibes.
$100,000 Cashword Win
An Oakdale lottery player of more than 40 years says he was shocked and stunned after discovering his favorite CT Lottery scratch game netted him a top prize win. The winner says he ran into a roommate’s room to share the good news after discovering he’d won $100,000. He says he plans to use the winnings to buy what he called “a sorely-needed” car and will continue to keep playing. The ticket was purchased at Preston General Store on Route 165 in Preston. For selling the winning ticket, Preston General Store will receive a bonus of $1,000—one of the many benefits of being a CT Lottery retail partner.
$100,000 Cash5 Win
A New Jersey woman credits blind luck for a $100,000 Cash5 win after she says he was visiting her mother here in Connecticut. The winner’s mom asked her to buy a ticket for fun and the player chose the quick pick option. The ticket was purchased at the 7/11 on New Britain Ave. in Newington for the October 22nd drawing. The winner says she plans to buy her mom a ticket to Poland to visit family after she hadn’t been back to see them in 20 years.
