Courtney Freeman smiles with her $50,000 'Jacks or Better' prize
Waterbury Woman to Surprise Wife with $50,000 Lottery Prize for Anniversary
April 21, 2017 -- Ever wake up in the morning feeling energized and refreshed? Maybe you had a good night’s sleep. Maybe you just had a feeling something wonderful was coming your way. For Courtney Freeman of Waterbury, that something wonderful was a $50,000 lottery prize. “I had a feeling something good would happen!” She just didn’t know how good it was going to get.
Heading to her usual retailer, Freeman decided to purchase three “Jacks or Better” instant tickets, “I scanned the first ticket—nothing, scanned the second and said, ‘$50,000!? Are you serious?’” Freeman was so excited that she drove straight to the CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.
Wanting to surprise her wife in a special way, Freeman is taking her winner’s check and putting it behind her windshield in her car. She plans to pick her wife up from work and let her discover the great news. “She’ll probably pass out,” Freeman laughed.
The lottery win comes at a special time for the couple as they just celebrated their 4 year anniversary. In need of a new car and apartment as well, Freeman smiled and said, “The timing just right.”
For selling the winning ticket, AJ Services located on 358 Walnut Street in Waterbury, will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
