Southington Price Chopper® Sells $1,000,000 “Classic Lotto” Jackpot Winning Ticket
March 07, 2013 -- Last week, Stefan Pagano of Durham happily claimed Classic Lotto’s single winning $1,000,000 jackpot ticket for the February 26 drawing.  Yesterday, it was Southington Price Chopper’s turn to celebrate a special “win” of their own.  For selling Pagano his jackpot prize winning ticket, Price Chopper will receive a $10,000 bonus from the CT Lottery—the supermarket chain’s first-ever $1,000,000 ticket sale.

“In all the time that I’ve been working for the company, I’ve never seen a lottery prize this big,” said Brian Barkasy, Southington Price Chopper’s customer service supervisor.  “When we heard the good news, it was quite surprising.  The employees are all very excited about it.”

Pagano’s ticket matched all six of the winning Classic Lotto numbers drawn on February 26:  4 - 8 - 10 - 11 - 14 - 19.  In total, 7,613 winning Lotto tickets were sold for that date with prizes ranging from $2 to $1,000,000.

Classic Lotto's jackpot is payable as a 21-year annuity or a one-time cash lump-sum.  Pagano claimed the jackpot’s cash lump-sum prize for $786,721 at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill and received a check for $537,330 (after taxes).
