September 24, 2012 -- The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and McGill University selected the Connecticut Lottery Corporation as the recipient of the first “North American 2011 Holiday Campaign Award.”  The CT Lottery accepted the national award at the World Lottery Association (WLA) Summit in Montreal on September 12, 2012.

The award recognized the Lottery’s outstanding commitment during the holiday season to responsible play.  All advertising, marketing and public relations communications included the message “PLEASE PLAY RESPONSIBLY.  Lottery tickets are not a suitable gift for children under 18 years of age.  Purchasers must be 18 or older.”

“The Holiday Campaign Award exemplifies the CT Lottery’s commitment to meeting the highest standards in our industry for corporate and social responsibility,” said Anne M. Noble, President and CEO for the CT Lottery.  “Our commitment to responsible gaming is one that is deeply embedded in our everyday culture.  While the vast majority of persons who choose to engage in gaming activities do so responsibly, we cannot ignore that gambling can be risky behavior, especially for our youth.”

In keeping with the national Holiday Campaign Award, earlier this month, the CT Lottery also achieved Level 2 Certification for its responsible gaming program from the World Lottery Association (WLA).  The CT Lottery is one of only six U.S. lotteries to achieve this distinction.
