Orlando Pereira Wins First of Five “Win for Life” Top Prizes
Hartford Man Quenches His Thirst with $5,000 a Month for Life Lottery Prize
July 18, 2012 -- When Orlando Pereira, 29, of Hartford, saw the CT Lottery’s “Win for Life” commercials on TV, he wondered; what it would it be like to win $5,000 a month for life.

On July 9, Pereira found out.  He stopped at Flatbush Market located at 273 Hillside Avenue in Hartford to purchase a Gatorade® and four Win for Life, Edition 18 instant tickets.  Pereira’s fourth Win for Life ticket purchased turned out to be a top prize win in the game.

Win for Life is one of the CT Lottery’s most popular instant games offered because the value of its top prize is based on the longevity of its winners.  The top prize will provide Pereira $5,000 a month ($3,416 after taxes), every month, for the rest of his life.

When Pereira arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill, he was already making plans for his incredible windfall.  “I’m going to buy a house, a new car, and will help my family out,” Pereira told Lottery officials.

For selling Pereira his top prize winning Win for Life ticket, Flatbush Market received a $10,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
