December 06, 2012 -- The CT Lottery has announced that the second of three “Match 5” prize winning tickets sold for the November 28, 2012 Powerball® drawing have been claimed.

The winning Powerball numbers on November 28 were 5 – 16 – 22 – 23 – 29 and Powerball 6.  In total, 148,555 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $2,000,000.  

Winners Marilyn Galan of Bridgeport and Luciano Cruz of Stratford missed the Powerball number, but matched the first five numbers for a spectacular $1,000,000 prize win.  Galan and Cruz claimed their ticket at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill yesterday in two prize checks, each for $341,500 (value after taxes).  Their $1,000,000 prize winning ticket was purchased at Wash Works LLC, located at 1332 North Avenue in Bridgeport.  

“It is so exciting…just amazing…that our store sold the winning ticket,” Wash Works store manager, Oliver Lay, told Lottery officials.  “It’s by far the biggest prize we’ve ever sold.”   Wash Works will receive a $2,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.

Additionally, Maria Forgione of Northford had a five number match on her Powerball ticket for the November 28 drawing.  Because the Forgiones added the Power Play feature to their ticket for an extra $1 at the time of purchase, their prize, normally $1,000,000, was automatically doubled for an incredible $2,000,000 prize win.  Patco Handy Stop, located at 1371 Middletown Avenue in Northford, will receive a $2,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling Forgione her winning ticket.
