Raymond Zebrowski Wins Top Prize Playing “Cashword 19” Instant Game
Bristol Retiree “Rakes” in $25,000 Lottery Prize
June 06, 2012 --
After counting nine complete word matches on his CT Lottery “Cashword 19
” instant ticket, Bristol retiree Raymond Zebrowski was quite excited with his anticipated $1,000 prize win. After his ticket was scanned by a lottery retailer for verification, however, he was taken aback with the retailer’s response. “He told me it was worth $25,000.”
“I had made a mistake. I thought I had nine words, but I didn’t notice I also had the word ‘RAKE,’ which made it ten words,” said Zebrowski with a cheerful grin.
While winning the top prize was certainly an exciting experience, Zebrowski said that he’s a “Cashword” instant game fan, regardless of the win. “It takes time to play Cashword. I really enjoy that.”
Zebrowski arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim his check for $17,076 (prize value after taxes). “I’m not sure what I’ll do with the prize money yet. Maybe I’ll take a little vacation, but it’s good to have some money put aside for when you need it,” Zebrowski said.
For selling Zebrowski his top prize winning ticket, Bristol Gas, located at 44 South Street in Bristol, will receive a $250 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
