SCRATCH GAMES WINNER!
Ada Brighenty Wins “Red Hot 5s Doubler” Instant Game Top Prize
Stew Leonard’s Sells $50,000 Prize Winning Ticket to Kensington Senior
October 14, 2011 -- Ada Brighenty of Kensington loves to shop at Stew Leonard’s in Newington.  “The fresh produce and the bakery are to die for,” Ada said.  On May 19, Stew Leonard’s began selling CT Lottery games to add to their list of customer services, and Ada, a regular customer, is sure glad they did.  “Every time I go to the store, I always buy a different scratch ticket.  This time I bought the 'Red Hot 5’s Doubler' and won $50,000 on the very first number I scratched,” Ada told Lottery officials.  “I could hardly believe it!”

“Selling CT Lottery at Stew Leonard’s has been a huge hit with our customers,” said Dan Arthur, Stew Leonard’s store president in Newington.  “I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Brighenty last Saturday when she came by the store to buy her ticket, and we couldn’t be more excited for her!  We hope her good luck rubs off on our other customers and can’t wait to welcome her back to the store again soon.”

Ada arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to accept a prize check for $34,151 (value after taxes).  “When I first scratched my ticket I thought I won $5.  I kept scratching and there were more zeros, until finally, I saw the $50,000.  I never thought I would win this much,” Ada said.  “I’d like to do something fun with a little bit of the money, but first, I’ll talk to my accountant and make my plans from there.”

For selling Ada her $50,000 top prize winning Red Hot 5’s Doubler ticket, Stew Leonard’s will receive a $500 bonus from the CT Lottery.
