Donald Hill of Griswold Wins $10,000 Prize Playing "Lucky-4-Life"
Retired State Trooper Gets a Ticket…for a $10,000 Lottery Prize
October 27, 2011 --
Retired state trooper Donald Hill of Griswold recently got a ticket—not for speeding, but for the CT Lottery "Lucky-4-Life
" draw game. Hill played a lucky combination of his family’s birth days and birth months. On October 3, Hill missed matching the Lucky Ball number, which was 38, but still matched the other four winning numbers drawn, 4 - 12 - 18 – 19 and won $10,000. “I usually play ‘38’ as my Lucky Ball—it was my old badge number. This time I played my wife’s birthday and missed the match, but honestly, I’m completely happy with the $10,000,” Hill said.
A total of 8,326 winning Lucky-4-Life tickets were sold on October 3, 2011—three of which were $10,000 second prize winners.
Hill, currently an assistant highway supervisor for the North Stonington Highway Department, recently came to Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to accept a prize check for $6,830 (value after taxes). “There are twelve of us at work that play Mega Millions and Powerball together. I’d love to come back with all of them to claim that kind of a prize,” Hill said.
Hill’s $10,000 prize winning Lucky-4-Life ticket was purchased at Petro Max, located at 136 Preston Road in Griswold.
