July 06, 2011 -- Hector Quinones knew he wanted to keep his winning CT Lottery “Win for Life, Edition 17” instant ticket in a safe place, but he didn’t want to forget where he put it.  So, he opted to tuck it away in his backpack for safe keeping until he got out of work.  Keeping it a secret all day seems hard to imagine, but Quinones acted as if it was just another ordinary day until he was able to go home and share the good news with his family.

Quinones won a top prize for Win for Life which provides $5,000 a month ($3,426 after taxes), every month, for the rest of his life, with a guaranteed minimum payout of $1 million.

Quinones was already planning on retiring this October, and will share his windfall with his family.

“It feels so good,” he excitedly said to CT Lottery staff last week when he arrived to collect his prize at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.  “I sent my children a text with the winning ticket in it since they did not believe that I had won.”

Quinones’s top prize winning Win for Life ticket was purchased at Pramukh Foodmart, located at 119 North Turnpike Road in Wallingford. For selling the winning ticket, Pramukh Foodmart will receive a $10,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
 
The Win for Life series was introduced into the CT Lottery portfolio in January 1998. The current game has a top prize of $5,000 a month for life with a guaranteed minimum payout of at least $1 million.
