March 29, 2011 -- For the last 13-years, Peggy D. Lyons of New Haven has enjoyed playing in a Tuesday morning bowling league with her girlfriends—199 is her top score.  Recently, however, Lyons scored a new “personal best” when she scratched and won a $10,000 top prize playing the CT Lottery instant ticket, “10X Cash 4th Edition.”  “I was like the Energizer Bunny,” Lyons said laughing, “I was so excited!”

While driving to her job at Pratt & Whitney, Lyons made different stops along the way to pay bills.  At last, Lyon’s pulled into the 7-Eleven Store, located on 298 Main Street in East Hartford, to get a soda, a bite to eat, and a 10X Cash 4th Edition instant ticket.  It wasn’t until later during a break at work that Lyons remembered to play her ticket.  “Each row was a winner.  I began adding up the prizes until I got to $10,000, then I ran to a co-worker to tell them, ‘I just won $10,000!’” Lyons told lottery officials.

By the time Lyons arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill recently to accept her prize check for $6,853 (value after taxes) she was still having a ball.  “This money is going straight into a money market account…right into the bank!”

For selling Lyons her winning ticket, 7-Eleven Store will receive a $100 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
