Christine Sadow Wins Game's $10,000 Top Prize
Willington Resident Loves "I Love Lucy," Too, After Winning $10,000 Prize
March 09, 2011 -- Christine Sadow of Willington was grocery shopping at the Grand Union Family Market on Middle Turnpike in Storrs when she overheard someone at the customer service desk ask to buy a CT Lottery "I Love Lucy" instant game ticket. The request peaked her interest enough to purchase an
I Love Lucy ticket for herself.
Finishing her errands, Sadow took a moment before driving home to play her I Love Lucy ticket. First, she scratched and revealed two "Winning Numbers," one of which was a “33.” Then Sadow found another "33" on her ticket for a match—along with the game's $10,000 top prize. "I thought it was a $10 winner at first," Sadow told CT Lottery officials. "After I realized it was $10,000, I was so excited I wasn't sure if I could even drive home."
Sadow came to Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill recently to accept a check for $6,850 (prize value after taxes). "This is going to pay for new granite countertops in my kitchen," said Sadow with a laugh.
