April Michaud Wins with "Lucky-4-Life" Drawing Game Ticket
Split Second Decision Wins Windsor Woman $10,000 Prize
March 03, 2011 -- While shopping at the Price Chopper grocery store located on Poquonock Avenue in Windsor, April Michaud, also of Windsor, cashed a $4 prize winning "Lucky-4-Life" drawing ticket. Instead of pocketing her prize, she purchased two Lucky-4-Life "Quick Picks" for the January 24, 2011 drawing. It was a split second decision that ultimately multiplied the original $2 ticket price by 5,000 times—and won Michaud a cool $10,000.The winning Lucky-4-Life numbers drawn on January 24 were 06-20-22 and 35. Michaud matched those four numbers, but did not match the Lucky Ball number, which was 08.While filling up their car at a gas station, it was Michaud’s husband, Michael, who went inside to check April’s Lucky-4-Life ticket in the lottery "Ticket Checker" and discovered it was a $10,000 winner. "When he came back to the car and told me to put the ticket in a safe place, it took my breath away," Michaud explained to Lottery officials. "It was only a couple months ago that I started playing the game, so I was totally shocked," she said.The Michauds arrived at Lottery Headquarters recently to claim a check for $6,850 (prize value after taxes). "The money will help pay for our summer vacation now; this was good timing!" she said with a laugh.Michaud joins three other lucky Windsor residents who have also won $10,000 playing Lucky-4-Life, including Bobbie Gray, Betty Moody, and Dawn Woodward.
