Lorna Frade Wins $10,000 Playing "$100,000 Cashword 2"
Bethel Couple Celebrates Holiday Fun with $10,000 Prize
December 22, 2010 --
Lorna Frade and her husband were married on a Friday the 13th. They decided from then on that “13” would be their “lucky” number. So, it was only fitting that the Bethel couple chose December 13th to drive to CT Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim a ten thousand dollar “$100,000 Cashword 2
” instant game prize. “We waited until today to claim the prize,” Frade said to Lottery officials with a smile, “so we could celebrate ‘13’ again.”
$100,000 Cashword 2, a hugely popular crossword-puzzle style of game, is an “extended play” instant game. It takes more time to play than a standard ticket, and the prizes that can be won are built upon how many matches are made as the play is completed.
“I really enjoy playing ‘Cashword’ games because they’re fun—especially this one; it was a lot of fun,” said Frade with a playful laugh. Together, the Frades happily accepted a check from Lottery officials for $6,853 (prize value after taxes). “The prize money will make for a good, fun Christmas,” Frade said.
The $10,000 prize that Frade won is one of 33 second level prizes in the game $100,000 Cashword 2; there are 16 more $10,000 prizes that remain to be claimed. The game’s top prize is $100,000.
Frade purchased her winning $100,000 Cashword 2 ticket at Rite Aid, located on Greenwood Avenue in Bethel.
