Linda Cote of Oakdale Wins "New England Patriots™" $50,000 Top Prize
"Dyed-In-The Wool" Football Fan Scores $50,000 Top Prize
November 02, 2010 -- Originally from Massachusetts, Linda Cote of Oakdale, is a self-proclaimed “dyed-in-the wool Patriots fan, and a big fan of anything New England.” It was on the 8th CT Lottery New England Patriots™ scratch ticket Cote purchased that she revealed a “FOOTBALL” prize symbol and recently won the 2nd of 4 top prizes in the game.
“We were married in August, so eight has always been my lucky number. When I buy tickets, I always buy eight,” Cote said. “I was so excited; it was just wonderful!” Cote said of her big win.
Last week, Cote, along with her husband of nearly 50 years, Paul, claimed her prize check for $34,251 (value after taxes) at the Lottery’s Rocky Hill headquarters.
Although retired, Cote stays busy as director of a non-profit children’s organization, and is actively involved with her children and their growing family. “With four children, thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, there is always something to spend money on. With this prize, we’ll be able to pick up some things we’ve wanted for awhile,” Cote shared with Lottery officials.
For selling Cote her winning ticket, Stop & Shop of Colchester will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
