Plantsville Resident "Mines" $1,000,000 Playing CT Lottery Instant Game
February 24, 2010 -- Who says you can’t scratch a diamond? Craig Comparone of Plantsville did just that when he scratched the coating from a
$100,000,000 Diamond Mine instant ticket on Friday and discovered he'd won a $1,000,000 top prize in the game. Comparone's million-dollar surprise has made him "Connecticut’s Newest Lottery Millionaire."
The $100,000,000 Diamond Mine million dollar top prize is payable as a 20-year annuity or one-time cash lump-sum equivalent. After consulting with a financial advisor, Comparone, the third top prize winner in the game, chose the lump-sum option of $578,390; he received a prize check for $377,430 (after taxes).
For selling Comparone his top prize winning ticket, Sunoco A Plus, located at 519 Washington Street in Middletown will receive a $10,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
