$800,000 CT Powerball Ticket Pays Big For Mass Resident
August 14, 2008 -- Power Play paid big for Westfield, Massachusetts resident Ronald Gintowt, who won $800,000 in last night’s Powerball Lottery drawing. Five of the numbers Gintowt selected for his ticket matched those drawn. Gintowt made quick business of claiming his prize at the Lottery corporation’s Rocky Hill headquarters today, and, after taxes were deducted, Gintowt received a prize check in the amount of $560,000.

Winning numbers for the August 13 Powerball drawing were: 05-10-19-23-31, the Powerball number was 26, and the Power Play Multiplier was 4.

A total of 14,045 winning Powerball tickets were sold in Connecticut for last night’s drawing. Prizes for those tickets totaled $986,319, nearly a million dollars in all, for CT’s Powerball winners. In Connecticut, 3,729 tickets for last night’s drawing, including the one purchased by Gintowt, were purchased with the “Power Play” multiplier feature added for $1 more per ticket. With Power Play, winners can multiply prizes won (except the jackpot level) from 2-5 times the advertised prize amount.

If you had a Powerball with Power Play ticket for the August 13 Powerball drawing, the CT Lottery encourages you to check your tickets. Even if there are no jackpot winners, there are always thousands of winners in the game’s other prize levels. Players are also reminded to sign their names to tickets purchased in order to establish ownership.

Gintowt’s winning ticket was sold by Smoker’s Discount World, Salmon Brook Road, in Granby.
