Frank Antancio Wins Top Prize Playing CT Lottery Scratch Game
Shelton Resident Wins $20,000 Playing “20X The Cash”
January 17, 2008 -- Frank Antancio of Shelton is beginning his new year with a bounce in his step and $20,000 in his pocket after winning the 11th of 54 top prizes in the CT Lottery scratch game “20X The Cash, 2nd Edition.”
While on his way to work Thursday morning, Antancio stopped at Wooster Street Market in Shelton to pick up coffee and donuts for his co-workers; while there, he purchased a scratch ticket. “I don’t play very often, just once in awhile,” said Antancio. The first ticket was a winner…so was the second, as well as the third. Antancio decided to make one final purchase. “That’s when I picked the ”20X The Cash,” said Antancio of his $20 ticket selection.
When Antancio scratched the latex off the surface of the ticket, he thought he had a $1,000 winner. Antancio gave the ticket to the lottery agent to be scanned and verified. “He told me that I didn’t win $1,000, instead I won 20 times the prize; I won $20,000,” Antancio said with a big grin. “I’ve never won a prize this big,” said Antancio.
Later that day, Antancio arrived at Lottery headquarters in New Britain to accept a check for $14,006 (the prize value after taxes). Antancio did not hesitate to answer when asked of his plans for the prize money. “My daughter just graduated from college, so I’m giving half of the prize to her,” he said.
For selling Antancio’s top prize winning ticket, Wooster Street Market, located at 70 Wooster Street in Shelton, will receive a $200 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
