HOW TO PLAY POWERBALL®
Powerball® jackpots start at $40 million.  Jackpots will increase at least $10 Million between each draw and grow until they are won! Besides the jackpot, there are eight other ways to win. Powerball® is a multi-state game. Drawings are shown every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59pm on Fox CT - Channel 61 and WCCT-TV - Channel 20.

How to Play
  • Fill in a Powerball® play slip by choosing 5 different "white" numbers between 1 and 59 inclusive, and one Powerball® "red" number between 1 and 35 inclusive. Tickets cost $2 per wager. (See Prize Payout Table Below)
  • If you can't decide which numbers to play, let the computer pick them for you.  Just ask for a Powerball® Quick Pick.
  • 5 white balls and one red ball are drawn.
  • Each Powerball® play slip contains 5 separate $2 wagers.  Play all 5 wagers for $10!  (Add the Power Play feature for $1 more per wager).
  • Powerball® tickets cannot be cancelled or returned once you've made your purchase.
  • Buy tickets for future drawings with the "Advance Action" option, available for up to 26 drawings.  Get 26 Advance Action plays for the price of 25!
Add Power Play...It Pays!
  • Power Play is a $1 add-on feature (per wager) that increases the original prize amount.  Jackpot prizes not eligible.  (See Prize Payout Table Below)
  • If Power Play is activated and you match 5 white numbers, the prize is guaranteed to be $2,000,000!
  • Power Play can only be added at time of purchase.
REPLAY YOUR TICKET
 
The FAST and EASY way to play your numbers again!
  • Hand the lottery retailer your existing draw game ticket and JUST SAY, "REPLAY."
  • You will get a new ticket, for the same game with the same numbers and wager amount.
  • Your new ticket will have the REPLAY "R" printed on it.
  • Available ONLY on Powerball®, Mega Millions®, Lotto, Cash5, Lucky for Life, Play3, Play4 as well as Advance Action and Multi-Draw Tickets.
  • REPLAY is NOT available on Super Draw or Advance Day tickets.

Overall odds of Powerball® or Powerball® with Power Play are 1 in 31.8 based on $2.00 play. *Prize amounts ($2,000,000 or less) are based on the expected number of winners sharing the prize pool. In some cases, these prizes may be paid on a pari-mutuel basis in accordance with the Official Game Rules and may differ from those shown. Purchasers must be 18 or older.
CLAIM YOUR PRIZE
  • Place your name on the back of your ticket immediately to establish ownership.

  • Prizes up to $599 can be claimed at any CT Lottery retailer. Click here to find a retailer in your area.

  • Prizes of $5,000 or less can be claimed at any CT Lottery High-Tier Claim Center.

  • Prizes greater than $5,000 must be claimed at CT Lottery Headquarters.

  • Tickets expire 180 days from the drawing date. All prizes must be claimed within 180 days of drawing date.
CHOOSE YOUR JACKPOT PAYOUT
  • When you win a Powerball® jackpot, you have 60 days from the time you present your claim at CT Lottery Headquarters to decide whether you want your prize as an "Annuity" or "Cash Lump Sum" payout.

  • Select the "Annuity" option, and receive your jackpot prize in 30 payments over 29 years. Pick the "Cash Lump Sum" payout, and you will receive your prize in a one-time payment. If you do not make a choice, you will automatically receive the "Annuity" payout option.

  • The annuitized jackpot prize is pari-mutuel. If you are the only winner, you will receive the entire first prize pool. If you are one of several winners you will receive one share of the first prize pool.
HOW LATE CAN I BUY A TICKET?
Lottery retailers are expected to make tickets available to customers during their hours of operation. Powerball® sales close at 11:00pm on non-drawing days. On drawing days, sales close at 10:00pm.

Lottery terminals can be activated for sales after the drawing numbers have been validated and made official into the on-line system. Between the hours of 11:00pm and 6:00am each night (later on Powerball® nights), all lottery terminals are "taken down" for reporting purposes. During those hours, lottery tickets cannot be issued and Lottery tickets cannot be sold.
CAN I BUY POWERBALL® TICKETS ONLINE OR BY MAIL?
No. Federal legislation prohibits lotteries from selling tickets by mail or on the Internet. Click here to learn how to protect yourself from scams.

When the Powerball® jackpot reaches or exceeds $150 million, the CT Lottery begins answering the toll-free Powerball® Hotline 1-877-433-0303 (8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday).
